West Wilson rolls past WJB boys

West Wilson’s boys crushed host Walter J. Baird 53-24 Monday night.

The Wildcats led 15-9 following the first quarter, 24-12 at halftime and 40-19 through three periods.

Dylan Alsup led Walter J. Baird with 14 points and six rebounds. Eli McDearman and Tavarus Booker each finished with four points and Jared Lawrence two.

Baird will play host to crosstown rival Winfree Bryant on Thursday with the girls tipping off at 6 p.m.

Lady Bears roll past Southside

MT. JULIET — Mt. Juliet Middle’s girls rolled past visiting Southside 33-15 Monday night at Tommy Martin Gym.

The Lady Bears led 11-2 following the first quarter, 18-4 at halftime and 24-11 through three as they improved to 5-4.

Sydney Throneberry’s nine points led the Lady Bears while Kathryn Bean scored seven, Alex Houston and Julia Maki four each, Gentry Houston and Natalie Sims three apiece, Katelyn Rayburn two and Neveah Majors a free throw.

Keionna Britton scored six for the Lady Saints while Abby Moser finished with four, Miyaunna Cason three and Aubree Starnes two.

Mt. Juliet will travel to Rock Springs on Thursday for a 7 p.m. tipoff.

Campbell’s jumper completes Winfree Bryant sweep of Rockvale

Devin Campbell’s jumper from the elbow in the closing seconds lifted Winfree Bryant’s boys to a 37-36 victory over visiting Rockvale on Monday night.

Earlier, Winfree Bryant’s girls regained control in the fourth quarter to pick up a 31-27 triumph.

Campbell’s basket lifted the Aviators to 4-6 for the season after Winfree Bryant led 11-8 following the first quarter, 17-12 at halftime and 26-22 going into the fourth.

Kemon Neuble knocked down a pair of three-pointers in leading Winfree Bryant with 14 points. Campbell, Xavier Mills and Kito Aruh each scored six and Elijah Terry five.

Forward Corry Rankins’ 12 points led Rockvale.

In the girls’ game, the Lady Aviators led 6-2 following the first quarter and 13-10 at halftime before Rockvale flew in front 18-17 going into the fourth as Winfree Bryant improved to 3-7.

Point guard Maleigha Oldham led the Lady Aviators with 10 points while Samantha Newton added eight, Katie Smith six; Allie Dozier, Jillian Tramel and Rachel Tarpley two apiece and Emily Jones a free throw.

Mia Metcalf tossed in 10 points from Rockvale’s backcourt.

Friendship boys beat MTCS, Lady Commanders lose 24-23 in closing seconds

Friendship Christian’s middle school boys got a combined 28 points from Dillon Holland and Matthew Skeen to beat visiting Middle Tennessee Christian 43-39 Monday night at the Bay Family Sportsplex.

Earlier, Abby Hageman’s basket from the key with six seconds left lifted Middle Tennessee Christian’s girls past Friendship Christian 24-23.

Holland hit three 3-pointers on his way to 15 points while Skeen threw in 13 from the post as the Commanders climbed to 4-2. Hanley Sobieszczyk scored nine and Hunter Eastland, Seth Filson and Ben Jamison two each.

Nate Howell hit a pair of threes in leading Middle Tennessee Christian with 21 points as the Cougars fell to 10-7.

Friendship led 11-9 following the first quarter, 23-13 at halftime and 32-26 through three.

The Lady Commanders led 10-9 following the first quarter, 12-10 at halftime and 19-18 through three before falling to 2-4 for the season.

Kayla Taylor tossed in 12 points for Middle Tennessee Christian.

Forward Aja Jones led the Lady Commanders with 10 points while Lindsey Freeman added eight, Kendall Tipton three and AnnaBelle Gallaher two.

Friendship will play in the Lancaster Christian Christmas Tournament on Friday. The Lady Commanders will face Thurman at 4 p.m., followed by the boys against Ensworth at 5.

Friendship’s sixth-grade boys suffered their first loss of the season last Friday when Brentwood Academy seized control in the fourth quarter to take a 32-21 triumph.

The Commanders led 19-18 going into the fourth before Brentwood Academy surged ahead to its seventh win of the season in as many outings. Friendship fell to 5-1, ending a 16-game winning streak which covered last season’s undefeated record.

Justin Seagraves scored 10 points for Friendship while Jared Dickey and Camden Hayslip each finished with five and Bryce Miller a free throw.

Friendship traveled to Mt. Juliet Christian on Tuesday night.

Michael triple lifts Saints, MJCA girls rally in fourth past Poplar Grove

MT. JULIET — Noah Michael’s three-pointer with a second to play lifted Mt. Juliet Christian’s boys to a 32-29 triumph over Rockvale on Monday night.

Earlier, Mt. Juliet Christian’s girls rallied past Poplar Grove 30-25 for the Lady Saints’ seventh win of the season.

The Saints took the ball with 29 seconds left and held it until Michael’s triple, his only points of the night, found the net at the buzzer. Poplar Grove had just enough time to get timeout, but not enough to keep Mt. Juliet Christian from pulling even at 5-5 for the season and climbing to 2-1 in the Greater Nashville Athletic Conference.

Alex Pitman’s 12 points and Josh Jose’s nine led Mt. Juliet Christian. Cole Alup finished with five and Andrew Kittrell three.

Ryan Harris hit a pair of three-pointers in pacing Poplar Grove with 12 pointsw.

Poplar Grove’s girls led 18-15 going into the fourth quarter before Caitlyn Smith scored six of her nine points down the stretch for Mt. Juliet Christian.

Marcella Gallione supplied seven points for the Lady Saints, including five in the fourth, while Caroline Hibbett had six. Sam Stilts did all of her scoring in the final period as she and Courtney Wall finished with four points apiece.

Mt. Juliet Christian will now break for the holidays and return to the court Jan. 7 against Merrol Hyde. A game scheduled for Thursday at Tuckers Crossroads has been canceled.
