Baird beats Carroll-Oakland on late Booker basket

Walter J. Baird's Tavarus Booker scored 14 points, including the game-winning basket with four seconds left, as the Blue Devils beat Carroll-Oakland 26-25 in their tournament Friday.

The Blue Devils (7-6) led 12-11 at halftime and 19-15 at the end of three quarters before rallying at the end. Eli McDearman had five points while Daniel Covile and Caleb Lawrence added four and three, respectively. 

Noah Mulaski had 22 points to lead Carroll-Oakland. Nate Gibson had the other three points.

WJB will play Southside 9:15 a.m. today in a semifinal while Carroll-Oakland takes on Watertown in a consolation game at 2:15 p.m. Mt. Juliet will clash with Winfree Bryant in the other semifinal with the winners meeting at 7:15 tonight.

Winfree Bryant beats Watertown

Elijah Terry, Kemon Neuble, Kito Aruh and Xavier Mills had nine points apiece as the Aviators outdistanced Watertown 51-41 in the Walter J. Baird Christmas Tournament on Friday.

Winfree Bryant led 8-5 after one quarter and 21-17 at halftime. After Watertown cut the margin to three at one point, Winfree Bryant took command 34-27 at the end of three periods and held on.

Bubba Rhodes' seven points, Devin Campbell's five and Chase Danko's three rounded out the scoring.

Austin Lasater led Watertown (8-10) with 21 points while Preston Tomlinson added 12. Heath Price and Thomson added three and one point, respectively.
