Schools closed again, so’s basketball

Cancel those Wednesday night basketball plans.

With Sumner County schools closed again Wednesday, that county’s administration forced tonight’s three rescheduled basketball games with Wilson County schools to be postponed for the second straight night.

Wilson County schools will also remain closed Wednesday, but coaches on this side of the Cumberland River said it was the Sumner schools who canceled the games – Lebanon at Gallatin, Station Camp at Wilson Central and Mt. Juliet at Hendersonville.

The three games – all District 9-AAA matches – have yet to be rescheduled as most teams have multiple games awaiting them toward the end of the week, meaning attempting to play Thursday wouldn’t settle well with anybody.

Lebanon is scheduled to play host to Beech for homecoming on Friday night at Campbell Brandon Gym/Hester Gibbs Court before welcoming Mt. Juliet 24 hours later for a makeup from last month. The Golden Bears are to play at Station Camp on Friday.

Wilson Central is to play host to Portland on Friday night and travel to Siegel on Saturday for a noon matinee.

Central girls coach Bud Brandon did say his school has rescheduled its Dec. 6 snowout at Hendersonville. It will be played at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 26, which is during the open date between the NFL’s conference championship games and the Super Bowl, though the Pro Bowl will be played that day.
