Lady Bears beat crosstown rivals

MT. JULIET — Mt. Juliet Middle’s girls won the battle of North Mt. Juliet Road on Thursday by knocking off crosstown rival West Wilson 35-16 at the winner’s Tommy Martin Gym.

The Lady Bears led 11-3 following the first quarter, 20-6 at halftime and 28-12 through three as they improved to 11-5.

Sydney Throneberry’s 10 points from the post paced the Lady Bears. Seventh-grader Madison Hardy had eight points off the bench in relief of a foul-plagued Kathryn Bean. Natalie Sims scored five, Keah Ellis and Monako Woods four each, Alex Houston two and Bean and Gentry Houston a free throw apiece.

Kenadhi Killebrew and Taylor Tucker each finished with five points for West Wilson while Emma Palmer finished with four and Sarah Harmon and Bailey Kaposy a free throw apiece.

Mt. Juliet will celebrate Eighth-Grade Appreciation Night on Tuesday when Rock Springs visits Tommy Martin Gym for a 6 p.m. tipoff.

Luttrell’s career-high 24 lifts Tigerettes past TXR in 2OT

WATERTOWN — Brenna Luttrell had an Eighth-Grade Night to remember in leading Watertown’s girls to a 43-36 double-overtime win over Tuckers Crossroads on Thursday night.

Luttrell scored a career-high 24 points, including a pair of three-pointers and sinking 10 of 11 free throws as the Tigerettes moved to 17-5 for the season.

Watertown led 6-5 following the first quarter, 13-12 at halftime and 20-18 through three before the teams went into overtime tied 29-29. Alexis Haynes’ three-pointer for Tuckers Crossroads at the overtime buzzer sent the game into the second extra session.

Maria Allocco scored seven points for the Tigerettes while Victoria Patterson finished with five, McKenna George two and Ashlea Dickens and Alhinya Pinkston two each.

A.C. Clemmons poured in 17 points, including a pair of threes, for Tuckers Crossroads while Haynes had nine, Alaina Johnson eight and Hailyn Stewart two.

Watertown will play in the James C. Haile State Tournament on Saturday at Middle Tennessee Christian in Murfreesboro. The Tigerettes will take on North Cumberland at 9 a.m. and the boys will face Waverly at 3:15 p.m.

MJCA girls roll past Nashville Christian

NASHVILLE — Mt. Juliet Christian’s middle school girls rolled to a 38-15 win at Nashville Christian on Thursday night.

Caroline Hibbett led the Lady Saints with 18 points while Marcella Gallione scored seven, Caitlyn Smith six, Courtney Wall four and Sam Stilts three as Mt. Juliet Christian climbed to 7-1 in conference play, including a 38-19 home win over Nashville Christian last month.

Mt. Juliet Christian will play host to Clarksville Academy on Monday.

FCS 6th-graders rally past Goodpasture

MADISON — Friendship Christian’s sixth-grade boys wiped out a seven-point deficit in the final 3:30 to overtake host Goodpasture 34-29 Thursday night.

Three-pointers by Camden Hayslip and Grayson Cole brought Friendship to within one before Hayslip’s baseline jumper with 1:58 left put the Commandres in front. Cole connected on a pair of free throws with about a minute left for a 30-27 FCS lead as the visitors moved to 7-1 for the season.

Friendship led 9-6 following the first quarter but trailed 14-12 at halftime and 21-20 going into the fourth.

Cole connected on three 3-pointers in leading Friendship with 10 points while Justin Seagraves scored nine, Hayslip eight, Jared Dickey five and Bryce Miller two.

Cooper Pennington poured in four three-pointers in pacing Goodpasture with 20 points as the Cougars fell to 9-3.

Friendship will be in Murfreesboro today for the start of the James C. Haile State Tournament at Middle Tennessee Christian. The sixth-grade girls will face South Fentress at 7 p.m., followed by the boys at 8:15 against Ezell-Harding. In the other gym, the eighth-grade boys will battle Eastside at 4:30 p.m. before the girls take on Christ the King at 8:15.
