Wildcat wrestlers win Halls Tournament

KNOXVILLE — Wilson Central won the Halls Tournament over the weekend, taking the title by 75 points over Bradley Central.

Lane Dickeson, Austin Richard, Eddie Small, John Michael Jenkinson, Mike Binns and John Kramer won their weight classes. Dickeson and Kramer, who was named most outstanding wrestler by the referees, pinned all of their opponents and didn’t allow a point during the weekend. Richard remained undefeated through 51 matches for the season.

Christian Cerrito and Perry Baltz finished second, Caleb Berta and Zach Linton third, Ty Georgeadis fourth, Ben Iles fifth, Nick King seventh and Christian Frans eighth in the 16-team tournament, Central’s final regular-season event.

Central, which remained fourth in Luther Killian’s state poll Monday, is 34-4 for the season. The Wildcats have won tournaments at Middle Tennessee State, Ooltewah and Wilson Central in addition to Halls. They finished second at Father Ryan and third at Pigeon Forge.

On Monday, Central’s junior-varsity won the Region 7 championship.

Daniel Kuhn, Nate Fort, Conor Walls, Jarrel Actkins and Kyle Reynolds won individual championships. Wil Hudson, Brian Stover, Ryan Sullivan and Devon Webb finished second and Nathan Hoffman third.
