MJ Middle girls win finale in rout

Mt. Juliet Middle’s girls wrapped up their regular season Thursday night with a 50-6 rout at Winfree Bryant.

The Lady Bears led 9-2 following the first quarter and 20-4 at halftime as they wrapped up a 13-5 regular season.

Mt. Juliet will be the No. 1 seed out of Area 3 and play host to the No. 4 from the Clarksville area in the TMSAA sub-sectional Feb. 1 at Tommy Martin Gym.

Kathryn Bean led the Lady Bears with 11 points while Natalie Sims scored 19, Sydney Throneberry nine, Monako Woods six, Julia Maki and Alex Houston five each and Madison Hardy four.

Savannah Newton notched four points and Rachel Tarpley two for Winfree Bryant.

FCS middle boys roll past Lancaster, girls lose on late three

Friendship Christian’s middle-school boys rolled past visiting Lancaster Christian 64-13 Thursday night at the Bay Family Sportsplex.

Earlier, the Lady Commanders dropped a 45-43 decision on a late three-pointer by Mt. Juliet resident Alli Mayeux.

Friendship’s boys led 22-5 following the first quarter and 32-5 at halftime as the Commanders climbed to 8-5.

Hanley Sobieszczyk finished with 14 points in the post for Friendship while Ben Jamison notched nine; Jagger Pirtle, Tarver Hayslip and Mike Jones Jr. eight each, Ryan Godwin five, Dalton Karstens four and Dillon Holland, Hunter Eastland, Seth Filson and Ethan Bult two each.

Lancaster’s girls leaped to a 23-6 first-quarter lead before Friendship pitched a 16-0 second-period shutout to climb to within one by halftime.

Lindsey Freeman’s three-pointer put Friendship in front with just under two minutes to play. But Mayeux struck on the other end with her third triple as she wrapped up a 21-point night.

Freeman finished with 24 points to lead the Lady Commanders. Liv Sims and Aja Jones each added eight points, Cameron Burton two and Bayley West a free throw as Friendship fell to 3-9.

FCS will travel to Carroll-Oakland on Monday for a 6 p.m. double header.
