GLADEVILLE — Wilson Central repeated as region wrestling champions Thursday night.

The Wildcats were awarded a forfeit win over Beech to take the Region 7 championship. Central had beaten the Buccaneers in four previous matches this season.

Central, which won Region 5 last year before being moved to a different league, whipped West Creek 61-15 in the semifinals as the Wildcats punched their third straight trip to the state duals tournament. Beech also advanced by beating Clarksville in the other semi.

“I am proud of the wrestlers in this program who were able to make the move to a new region and dominate the way that they did,” Wildcats coach John Kramer said. “This group is a testimony to what dedication and hard work can do for you.”

Central will compete in the state duals tournament at the Williamson County Agricultural Exposition Center in Franklin beginning next Friday.
