West Wilson boys, MJ girls advance to TMSAA sectional

West Wilson’s boys rolled to a 52-34 defeat of Dickson in TMSAA sub-sectional basketball Saturday.

The Wildcats blew open a 24-21 halftime edge to 41-24 as they advanced to the Midstate sectional at Harris Middle School in Shelbyville where they will play at 5:30 p.m. Thursday against a team from Murfreesboro.

Gavin Johnson threw in three 3-pointers to lead West Wilson with 14 points while Dennis Stallings and Dalton King each added 11, Nathaniel Paredes and Jeffery Crawford five apiece and Brian Aikens and Cameron Bass three each.

Lady Bears roll past Montgomery Central

MT. JULIET — Mt. Juliet’s girls rolled past Montgomery Central 33-14 in sub-sectional basketball action Saturday at Tommy Martin Gym.

The Lady Bears led 9-3 following the first quarter, 20-9 at halftime and 30-13 going into the fourth as they advanced to this week’s Midstate sectional at Harris against Stewarts Creek at 5:30 p.m. today.

Julia Maki led the Lady Bears with 13 points while Monako Woods scored seven, Sydney Throneberry five, Kathryn Bean four, Natalie Sims three and Keah Ellis a free throw.

FCS 5th-6th-grade boys defeat DCA in finale

Friendship Christian’s fifth- and sixth-grade boys wrapped up their season Monday night with a 42-33 defeat of visiting Donelson Christian in a makeup game at the Bay Family Sportsplex.

The Commanders led 15-10 following the first quarter, 27-16 at halftime and 40-18 through three before Gage Scragg scored eight of his 10 in the fourth as DCA cut into the margin.

Jared Dickey dropped in 14 points from the post and Justin Seagraves 10 from the wing for Friendship while Camdan Hayslip had eight, Bryce Miller and John Ross Bryan a three-pointer apiece and Alek Kulas two as the Commanders climbed to a final 10-2 mark, making them 21-2 over the last two seasons.

Friendship’s middle school girls lost to Hermitage Springs in the final of the James C. Haile State Tournament at Middle Tennessee Christian School in Murfreesboro last Friday.

Hermitage Springs had ousted Watertown in the semifinals.
