MJ Middle girls ousted from TMSAA Sectional

SHELBYVILLE — Mt. Juliet Middle’s girls were ousted from the TMSAA Mid-State Sectional by Stewarts Creek 42-38 Tuesday night at Harris Middle School.

The Lady Bears led 11-10 following the first quarter and 22-13 at halftime before the Red Hawks soared in front 28-27 going into the fourth as Stewarts Creek advanced and Mt. Juliet ended a 14-6 season.

Briane Alexander led the Red Hawks with 10 points from the wing, mostly in the second half.

Most of Mt. Juliet’s points came from the post as Sydney Throneberry scored 14 and Kathryn Bean 13. Keah Ellis and Julia Maki each finished with four and Natalie Sims three.
