Women's outdoor workshop: The TWRA is holding an outdoors workshop for women April 25-27 at the Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area.
Cost of the event is $275 and covers meals, lodging and classes. Applications are available at tnwildlife.org, by contacting Don Hosse at email@example.com or calling 615-781-6541.
Participants will be offered classes in horseback riding, canoeing/fishing, Dutch oven cooking, hiking and 3-D archery.
The workshop will be limited to 30 participants. It will be first of its type hosted by the TWRA in its efforts to expand interest and participation in outdoors activities.
Hot shots: K.J. Davis won a shootoff with Danny Shaw to capture the Cedar City Gun Club's weekly trap shoot. Both shot 47's in regulation.
Ben Schade took third.
New licenses: With turkey season opening later this month (March 29), and spring fishing at hand, hunters and fishermen are reminded that their licenses expired at the end of February.
Renewals can be made on-line (tnwildlife.org) or at most outdoors outlets. Details about license requires and options are available in the current Tennessee Trapping & Hunting Guide and Tennessee Fishing Guide.
Youth Hunt: The Young Sportsman Turkey Hunt will be held March 22-23. A youngster who has not completed the mandatory Hunter Education Class can obtain a one-time Apprentice License that allows him to hunt with a licensed adult.
Friends of NRA banquet: The annual Friends of NRA banquet will be held April 4 at the James Ward Ag Center. Doors open at 5:30.
