MJ nets sweep of Lebanon

MT. JULIET — With Taylor Bounds winning her No. 1 singles match in a marathon set, Mt. Juliet’s girls doubled up visiting Lebanon 6-3 while the Golden Bears prevailed 8-1 in a District 9-AAA tennis match delayed 24 hours by Tuesday’s cold snap.
Bounds outlasted Heather Allmond 6-7 [7-4 in the tiebreaker], 6-2, 12-10 with a 47-stroke rally.
Joining her in the Lady Bear winner’s circle were Jacqueline Winstead with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Gina Kelley; Rachel Bounds 6-3, 6-4 over Melissa Bohrman and Elena Crews over Amy Tribble 8-2.
Doubles winners for the Lady Bears were Taylor Bounds and Sally McCabe over Allmond and Kelley 8-5 and Winstead and Crews over Tribble and Bohrman 8-1.
Lebanon winners were Aitano Asenjo over Elizabeth Stanley 8-4, Katherine Daily over Paula Araque 9-7, Markeisha Crutcher over Brette Reuff 6-0 and Asenjo and Crutcher over Araque and Hanson 8-0.
Golden Bear winners were Trevor Hunt over Trent Bagett 6-0, 6-3; Dylan Chambers over Jake Rodriguez 6-0, 6-0; Tyler Decker over Jon Kelley 6-1, 6-2; Ethan Johnston over Murry Lee 8-1 and Josh Johnston over Gannon Gregory.
Doubles winners were Hunt and Decker over Baggett and Rodriguez 8-2, Chambers and Ethan Johnston over Lee and Kelley and Josh Johnston and C. Walker over Gregory and Griffin Duvall 9-7.
Lebanon’s winner was Duvall over Justin Huddleston 8-6.
Central sweeps MCA
GLADEVILLE — Wilson Central’s boys beat visiting McClain Christian 7-2 while the girls prevailed 9-0 Wednesday.
Singles winners for the Wildcats were Nathaniel Dennison over Evan Tubb 8-5, Paden Robertson over Richard Bouton 8-0, Chase McElfresh over Sam Sturgeon 8-0 and Reece Gaddes over Jansen Carver 8-0.
Doubles winners were Dennison and Zack Baker over Tubb and Jon Whitener 8-2, Robertson and McElfresh over Bouton and Will Norton 8-5 and Gaddes and Houston Wood over Sturgeon and Carver 8-0 as the Wildcats collected their first win of the season following three opening losses.
McClain winners were Whitener over Baker 8-3 and Norton over Max Rahmani 8-5.
In exhibition play, Central’s Houston Woods beat Eli McFadden 6-1 and Sean Moran shut out Rex Bouton 6-0.
Lady Wildcat winners were Kansas Glasgow over Victoria Walker 8-4, Michela Micco over Elena Bingham 8-0, Lani Lee over Renee Boyer 8-0, Jackie Anderson over Jillian Williams 6-0, Rebecca Glenn over Corrine Dodson 8-0 and Hallie Wolfe over Madlyn Davis 8-0.
Doubles winners were Glasgow and Lee over Walker and Bingham 8-3, Micco and Anderson over Boyer and Williams 8-1 and Glenn and Wolfe over Dodson and Davis 8-1 as the Lady Wildcats pulled even at 2-2 for the season.
Central’s Jennifer Beckham beat Hayley White 8-2 in an exhibition match.
WCHS will play host to Lebanon at 4 p.m. today.
