FCS middle baseball rolls past Boys State twice

A big first inning ignited Friendship Christian to a 16-0 win over visiting Boys Prep in the opening game of a Thursday double header before Matthew Swann, Ben Jamison and Justin Seagraves combined on a no-hitter in a 10-1 nightcap middle-school baseball win.

Ten Commanders crossed the plate in the first inning of the opener. They finished with 12 hits, including three by Jared Dickey, who drove in three runs. Addison Fakes finished with two hits.

Ethan Bult, Jagger Pirtle and Jake Chessor combined for a five-inning one-hitter with 11 strikeouts.

Swann, Jamison and Seagraves combined for 12 whiffs in four innings as the Commanders climbed to 7-4 for the season.

Friendship finished with six hits, including doubles by Jamison and Caleb Farris.

The Commanders will play host to Davidson Academy at 6:30 p.m. tonight.

MJCA douses Heat 15-4

MT. JULIET — Mt. Juliet Christian crushed the Middle Tennessee Heat 15-4 Thursday.

Dawson Perry pitched the first two innings and left with a 13-2 lead. Camden Burgess, Caylor Bates and Austin Sloan each threw an inning as Mt. Juliet Christian climbed to 15-4 for the season and 2-2 in conference play.

Burgess and Perry each went 3-for-4 at the plate.

“This was a good win,” coach Mike Kittrell said. “We were able to get a lot of guys involved tonight so they could get some work.”

Mt. Juliet Christian will play host to Davidson Academy at 11 a.m. Saturday.
