MJCA’s Smith spins no-hitter in 14-0 win

MT. JULIET — It wasn’t football, but Mt. Juliet Christian posted a two-touchdown win over Community Christian via a 14-0 final as eighth-grader Caitlyn Smith threw a no-hitter.

Smith struck out 10 as the Lady Saints remained undefeated.

Mt. Juliet Christian scored 11 times in the first inning before junior Ashley Walling and sophomore Olivia Gonzalez homered in the second.

Walling finished with three hits and Smith two as each drove in two runs. Abi Hildabrand had two hits and Kendra Robertson one as both knocked in a score. Morgan Adcock also collected a hit.

Watertown double header canceled

Watertown’s scheduled home double header with Clay County scheduled for today at Three Forks Park has been canceled, Tigerettes coach Brandy Holcomb announced.

The Tigerettes are scheduled to travel to Crump Paris Park in South Carthage on Tuesday for a 5 p.m. District 8-A game against Gordonsville.
