Commander comeback falls short 3-2

HENDERSONVILLE — Friendship Christian’s comeback in the fifth inning fell a run short as the Commanders lost 3-2 to Hendersonville in middle-school baseball Friday night.

The Commandos scored all their runs in the first inning off Ethan Bult, who surrendered just two hits in a four-inning complete game.

Friendship finished with three hits for the game but got just two fifth-inning runs as the Commanders fell to 13-7. Ryan Godwin and Jacob Bostian drive in the FCS runs.

The Commanders are scheduled to play host to Station Camp in a 4 p.m. doubleheader today.

Sellers pitches MJCA past Clarksville Academy

MT. JULIET — Gavin Sellers held Clarksville Academy to five hits to lead Mt. Juliet Christian to a 16-1 middle-school baseball win Saturday.

Sellers struck out five as the Saints improved to 9-2 for the season and 6-2 in conference play.

“My guys played very well today,” Mt. Juliet Christian coach Mike Kittrell said. “We are hitting our peak right here down the backstretch to the end of the season.

“If we continue to hit the ball the way we are right now then good things will continue to happen for us.”

Cole Alsup and Camden Burgess each drove in three Saints scores. Alex Pitman produced three hits while Dawson Perry, Noah Michael and Preston Sloan each had two RBI as they and Tristin Mathis managed two hits apiece. Caylor Bates added an RBI and a hit.

Mt. Juliet Christian is scheduled to travel to play Carroll-Oakland today.
