The Cumberland men’s tennis team moved up one spot to sixth in this week’s NAIA men’s tennis coaches’ top 25 poll, the national office announced Tuesday.

It marks the highest ranking in school history of the program.

The Bulldogs have been ranked either seventh or eighth all season until defeating then No. 6 Lindsey Wilson, 5-4, on April 9 on the road, ending a four-match losing streak against the Blue Raiders. CU improved to 3-9 all-time versus Lindsey Wilson since the 2001 season.

The program’s highest ranking before this season was No. 7 on April 30, 2003.

Cumberland has won seven straight matches overall and currently leads the Mid-South Conference with a 4-0 mark with three league matches remaining. The Bulldogs will play host to Campbellsville today and 21st-ranked Pikeville on Saturday. CU will go to Bluefield on Thursday and the men end the regular season on April 22 at home versus Bethel.
