MT. JULIET — Mt. Juliet Christian swept a middle-school baseball doubleheader 9-5 and 5-0 from Lighthouse Christian at Billie Friel Field.

The Saints clinched the No. 2 seed in the MTIBL standings with a 9-2 record, 12-2 for the season.

Alex Pitman picked up the game-one win with seven strikeouts before Dawson Perry picked up the save.

Perry, Noah Michael and Cole Alsup each drove in a run on two hits. Camden Burgess went 2-for-2 while Caylor Bates knocked in two scores on one hit.

Perry punched out 11 in a complete-game second-game shutout performance.

Pitman, Perry, Michael, Bates and Tristin Mathis each managed a hit.

“We didn’t hit the ball quite like we are capable of hitting, but we stuck it out for two and got the wins we needed,” coach Mike Kittrell said.

Mt. Juliet Christian will play host to Harding Academy on Wednesday.
