Whitener correction: Betty Whitener's name was misspelled in last week's story about her successful Wilson County turkey hunt. Whitener, 84, bagged a 25-pound gobbler while hunting with husband Carroll.

Near perfect: Taylor Bolin missed only one of 50 shots during his rounds at the Cedar City Gun Club's weekly trap shoot, and that 49 took top honors. Gregg Piercy was second with a 48.

Local hunter on YouTube: The hunt on which Lebanon's Mike Graves bagged a huge elk last October is posted on Tennessee Wild Side on a YouTube video. The video is titled "Hard Hunt, Big Harvest."

Interscholastic shooting team: Ben Schade is organizing an interscholastic trap-shooting team for Wilson County youngsters.

The team, which will be known as the Cedar City Straights, is open to youngsters age nine through high school, and will compete in state, regional and even national competitions. They must complete a firearms safety course to be eligible. Schade can provide information about the process.

The team recently received a $1,916 grant from Friends of NRA to help with funding.
