With the storms of the past three days expected to be swept out of here, high school baseball and softball tournament action will roll in for an extended stay.

Both Friendship Christian teams will be in action this evening as the East-Middle District 1-A to tournaments get underway in FCS’ first year in Division II.

The Commanders will play host to St. Andrew’s-Sewanee at 6 p.m. in an elimination baseball game. The winner will travel to Ezell-Harding on Thursday and Knoxville Webb on Friday.

At the same time, Mt. Juliet Christian will be at Donelson Christian with the winner going to Webb on Thursday.

Friendship will open the softball tournament as the No. 1 seed and will play at 7 p.m. tonight against King’s Academy at DCA. King’s ousted Mt. Juliet Christian on Sunday.

DCA and Ezell-Harding will open play at 5 p.m. Today’s losers will play Thursday for the right to advance to Friday’s East-Middle Region while the winners play for the championship and seeding. The Nos. 2 seeds will play host to No. 3s on Friday while the 1s will advance to the second round next Monday at Davidson Academy.

In Division I, the District 9-AAA softball tournament will get underway at home sites today – Lebanon at Station Camp at 6 p.m., Portland at Wilson Central at 6 and Hendersonville at Mt. Juliet at 5. Win or lose, all eight district teams will advance to games at Station Camp on Thursday or Friday.

The 9-AAA baseball and 8-A baseball and softball tournaments are expected to begin by this weekend.
