DONELSON — Tana Whited pitched a five-inning one-hitter Wednesday night to lead Friendship Christian past King’s Academy 10-0 and into the East-Middle District 1-A championship game at Donelson Christian.

The Lady Commanders will return to DCA tonight for a 7 p.m. final with defending state champion Ezell-Harding. The loser will host a first-round East-Middle Region game Friday while the winner gets a bye to Monday’s game at Davidson Academy.

Whited walked none and struck out nine as the Lady Commanders climbed to 25-11 for the season.

Friendship put up four-spots in the first and fourth innings, sandwiched around single tallies in the second and third.

The Lady Commanders cracked 10 hits, including a two-run homer to left field by Brice Dabbs in the first inning and a solo shot by Brittany Petry to left-center in the third.

Brooke Eakes walked in the first inning and scored on a double down the left-field line by Kelsi Dickey, who was named district Most Valuable Player before the game.

Sarah Hall singled to left in the second and came around to score when Eakes’ single got past the outfielder for an error.

Eakes singled in the fourth, Dickey reached on an error and Whited drew a walk to load the bases. Dabbs and Annalise Jarnigan hit two-run doubles to cap the scoring.

9-AAA tournament delayed a day

Wet grounds prompted District 9-AAA softball coaches to postpone the start of the tournament a day.

That means Lebanon will travel to Station Camp and Wilson Central will play host to Portland in one bracket at 6 p.m. today. Mt. Juliet will entertain Hendersonville at 5.

Losers will meet at Station Camp on Friday while the winners wait until Monday to go to SCHS.
