CLARKSVILLE — Mt. Juliet Christian advanced to the finals of the Middle Tennessee Independent Baseball League tournament with a 4-3 win over host Clarksville Academy on Thursday.

The Saints will return to CA on Saturday for an 11 a.m. championship game against Middle Tennessee Christian, which handed MJCA both losses in a 15-2 season.

“It’s a great feeling to make it to the championship,” Mt. Juliet Christian coach Mike Kittrell said. “I’m proud for our kids and their hard work that they put in each day to get here. We were so close last season and I just wanted them to get that feeling of the big game.

“We are so thankful.”

Dawson Perry pitched four innings for the win and Gavin Sellers three for the save.

Sellers also led the offense with two RBI while Dawson Perry and Caylor Bates drove in a run each as all three had two hits. Noah Michael and Cole Alsup added a hit apiece.
