HENDERSONVILLE — Wilson Central emerged from the Hendersonville bracket of the District 9-AAA baseball tournament with a 5-2 win over the host Commandos Monday night at Drakes Creek Park.

The Wildcats [22-12] will play for the league championship Wednesday and, for the first time in years, Mt. Juliet won’t be there. Beech won the Mt. Juliet bracket and will play host to Central at a time to be determined.

Wednesday’s winner will play host to a first-round Region 5-AAA game next Monday while the loser goes on the road.

Monday’s game was scoreless until Kyle Hubbuch hit an RBI double and Jake Lefler a run-scoring single in the fourth.

Cullen Smith singled in a fifth-inning run. Ben Spradley spanked an RBI double in the sixth. Colten Morris had Central’s fifth hit.

Lefler pitched 6 2/3 innings for the win, allowing five hits. He had a shutout going until the Commandos scored both their runs in the top of the seventh.
