Cumberland women’s basketball coach Jeremy Lewis announced the signing of Murfreesboro native and UT-Martin transfer Chelsey Hall to scholarship papers this week.

The former Blackman High School product helped the Blaze reach the TSSAA State Tournament in 2011, with the squad posting a 24-6 mark. She was an All-District and All-District Tournament selection as a junior and senior for coach Chad Hibdon at BHS, averaging eight points, 2.5 assists and 3.5 steals per game. She was a 42 percent shooter from the field and a 34 percent 3-point shooter at Blackman.

Hall was named a Top 50 senior in Tennessee by the Rick Bolus High Potential Basketball Recruiting Service and earned Blue Chip Basketball Camp Final Four MVP honors and the third Twenty All-Star Game Runner-up MVP.

Hall spent the last two seasons at UT-Martin, winning Ohio Valley Conference championships in both years. She saw action in 26 games for the Skyhawks as a freshman, averaging 1.6 points and a rebound in 8.8 minutes per game. The 5-foot-5 guard played 10 minutes or more in nine games and 20 minutes or more in four of the last seven games.

She missed the first half of her sophomore campaign because of injury and played in 13 contests overall and just 3.4 minutes per game. She is the daughter of Charlotte Caruthers.
