JACKSON — Friendship Christian’s bid to repeat as state baseball champions, albeit in a different division, ended Thursday with a 10-9 and 13-9 sectional losses at University School of Jackson.

The Commanders, who won the Class A championship last year in their final season in Division I, led the first game until the Bruins scored five times in the bottom of the seventh inning.

USJ put up five-spots in the second and third innings in the second game to put the Commanders behind the eight-ball.

Friendship, which returned just two starters [plus a third who was injured] from the state title team, finished with a final 18-18 record.
