BRENTWOOD — Kadarian Garnett won the Section 3-AAA high jump Thursday night, tying a school record in the process and qualifying for the state meet.

Garnett’s 6-6 tied Britton Winfree’s mark and sent him to next Friday’s state final at Middle Tennessee State’s Dean Hayes Stadium.

Garnett finished sixth in the triple jump with a distance of 43-1. Raheem Reynolds was eighth in the long jump with a leap of 19-6.

Only the top four finishers qualify for the state.

Running events were held Friday with Lebanon’s Aisha Springette, Jameka Dowell and Mark Britt finishing out of the money.

Britt came the closest in the boys’ 3,200 meters, finishing fifth in 9:45, less than 1.5 seconds behind fourth place which would have advanced him to state.

Dowell was seventh in the girls’ 300 hurdles in 48.9 seconds. Aisha Springette was eighth in the girls’ 100 meters in 13.2 seconds.
