MT. JULIET — Mt. Juliet’s bid to make Wilson County soccer history was denied in the second overtime Saturday night with Overton scored to take a 2-1 sectional victory.

Cameron Woodfin took a Chase Earles pass for Mt. Juliet’s lone score.

The Golden Bears held the 1-0 lead until Overton tied the game with 15 minutes left in regulation.

Earles defended Overton’s Victor Tsado, one of the state’s top players, while Dylan Cole finished with 14 saves for the Bears, who lost at home in this game for the second straight season.

Mt. Juliet was trying to become the first Wilson County team to reach a TSSAA state soccer tournament.
