Three CU softball players tabbed NAIA Scholar-Athletes

Cumberland seniors Caroline Curran and Victoria Bennett and junior Sydney Broderick were each named 2014 Daktronics-NAIA Softball Scholar Athletes, the NAIA announced this week.
Curran, a health & human performance major from Bradenton, Fla. recorded the highest grade-point average on the club with a 3.75. Victoria Bennett, an athletic training major from Smithville, notched a 3.52.
Rounding out the list was Sydney Broderick, a criminal justice/public administration major from Knoxville, with a 3.65.
A total of 297 softball athletes were named on the list, as qualifiers must have maintained a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved junior academic status.
