Wilson County turkey tally: Wilson County ranked 7th in the state in the number of turkeys taken during the recent spring season, with 647 birds tagged.

The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency's final count the season is 32,495, almost identical to the 32,489 killed in 2013.

This season marked the 12th consecutive year in which Tennessee's turkey harvest surpassed 30,000.

Maury County was first in number of birds taken, with 1,149, followed by Greene (781), Dickson (719), Montgomery (686), Henry (679), Sumner (667) and Wilson (647).

More turkeys will be tagged during this fall's season, which runs Oct. 11-24), but those kills -- usually around 2,000 or so -- are tabulated separately from the spring harvest.

Next year's spring season runs April 4-May 17.
