Nationals blank Pleasant View, win sub-district

WHITE HOUSE – The Lebanon Nationals All-Stars shut out Pleasant View 16-0 Monday night to win a Dixie Youth 12-under sub-district tournament.

Eight runs in the first three innings allowed the Nationals to put the game away early.

Chase Birdwell, Bryce Miller, Braxton Swan and Garrett Pope started things off for the Nationals (4-0) in the first inning each with RBI singles to give Lebanon an early 4-0 lead.

Tyson Kelley stole home on a wild pitch in the second to extend the Nationals lead to 6-0.

Miller went 2-for-2 at the plate for the Nationals in the game.

Ryan Toporowski held Pleasant View hitless over two innings, allowing no earned runs and no walks with two strikeouts.

Birdwell picked up the win for Lebanon, pitching two shutout innings. He struck out three, walked one and surrendered two hits.

Cade Tuschl pitched the final inning, picking up a strikeout and allowing one walk.

Lebanon hammered Pleasant View pitching as seven hitters combined for 11 hits, nine RBIs and 11 runs scored.

Lebanon piled on two more runs in the top of the third with Toporowski’s single starting things off.

The Nationals increased their lead with seven runs in the fifth. A ground out scored Ryan Jackson for the inning's first run.

The Nationals next face Greenbrier, which finished second to the Lebanon Americans in sub-district, in the first round of district play Friday at 6 p.m. in Coopertown.
