Local junior golfers fare well in tourneys

NASHVILLE – Several Wilson County junior golfers were among the field of top finishers Tuesday in the Tennessee Golf Association Junior Tour tournament at McCabe Field Golf Course. 

Lebanon’s J.C. McDearman finished fourth with a 9-over 79 in the boys 16-18 tour age group. C.J. Greenfield, of Old Hickory, finished tied for eighth with an 11-over 81. Charlie Booher II, of Lebanon, came in 12th with a 16-over 86. Drew Porth and Cody Fredericks, both of Lebanon, each finished tied for 14th with a 21-over 91. 

In the boys 10-13 tour age group, Alec Harper, of Mt. Juliet, finished sixth with a 7-over 42. 

Ethan Mabry, of Lebanon, finished 20th in the boys 13-15 tour age group with a 20-over 90. 

In the girls 12-18 tour age group, Lebanon’s Caroline Hendrick finished tied for fourth with a 12-over 82. Caitlin Davis fired a 14-over 84 to take sixth. Kristen Fredericks, of Lebanon, and Haylee Gold, of Mt. Juliet, each tied for ninth with a 21-over 91. Madeline Buckley, of Lebanon, finished tied for 12th with a 26-over 96. 

Pair wins respective age divisions

FRANKLIN – A pair of Mt. Juliet junior golfers won their age division and a handful of other Wilson County juniors placed Monday in the Tennessee Golf Association Junior Tour tournament at Temple Hills Country Club. 

Harper finished with a 3-over 36 to win the boys 10-13 tour age group. 

Lise Malherbe, of Mt. Juliet, finished with a 7-over 34-39—73 to win the girls 16-18 masters age group. 

Davis finished second with a 20-over 43-43—86 in the girls 12-18 tour age group. Anna Leigh Cleveland, of Lebanon, was close behind in the group, finishing third with a 44-43—87. 

Booher finished tied for second after shooting a 7-over 37-36—73 in the boys 16-18 tour age group. McDearman finished fifth in the group with an 8-over 36-38—74. 

Samuel Fogg, of Mt. Juliet, shot a 41-36—77 to finish 11 over and in 11th place in the boys 13-15 masters age group.
