SOUTH CARTHAGE — Paul Jewell will get to keep his hair another day.

Gallatin kept the shears away from the Lebanon Gold manager by handing Jewell’s team its first loss 5-3 in the final round of the Little League minor-league district tournament at Crump Paris Park.

The Gold had won the first seven games since being formed at the end of the Lebanon Youth Baseball regular season. The teams will meet again tonight with the winner advancing to the state tournament this weekend in Goodlettsville. It would be Lebanon’s first-ever trip to the minor-league state tourney.

“We were hoping we would have got this one,” said Jewell, who has agreed to shave his head if his team clinches a berth in the state. “But this loss might have been good for us.”

Luke Gill’s two-run double helped give Lebanon an early lead. John Tomlinson pitched the first three innings before Jewell pulled him with the lead due to the pitch count.

Sam Parish also doubled for the Gold while Tomlinson, Jake Jewell, Nick Maggart, Brett Bowman and Mason Murrell singled.
