LYB major-league all-stars open Dixie state tourney today

Three of Lebanon’s finest all-star baseball teams will be stating their cases as state tournament action gets underway.

Both Lebanon Youth Baseball major-league all-star teams will open Dixie Youth O-Zone state tourney play today in Sweetwater in opposite brackets.

The Lebanon Nationals will play one of the first two games, at 11:30 a.m. CDT, against Harriman. Another game will get underway at the same time on another field.

The Lebanon Americans will face Savannah at 7 p.m. Win or lose, both teams will return to action Friday in the 16-team, double-elimination tournament.

Lebanon’s Baird Park will be the site for the 15-under Babe Ruth state tournament beginning Friday at Charles A. Eskew Field.

The Lebanon Lions will face Tullahoma at 8 p.m. after Cookeville faces Marshall County at 6. The Cookeville-Marshall County winner will catch Elizabethton at 11 a.m. Saturday.

This tournament is also a double-elimination event.
