Two named to all-state baseball team

Watertown’s Dusty Meador [swinging the bat] was named to the Class A all-state baseball team by the Tennessee Sports Writers Association as a utility player.

The junior played first base and the outfield for the Purple Tigers this spring, batting .520, which was sixth highest in the state.

He drove in 36 runs from the leadoff spot with 10 doubles, three triples and two homers. He stole 12 bases in 13 tries.

Mt. Juliet senior catcher Marshall Gei [signing a scholarship with the Kentucky Wildcats] was named to the Class AAA team.

He batted .473 with 14 doubles and 35 RBI with just five strikeouts in 132 plate appearances as a senior.

The Golden Bears won 51 games in his two seasons as a starter.
