MJ Middle doubles up WJB

Mt. Juliet Middle School came away with a 28-14 victory over host Walter J. Baird Thursday at Nokes-Lasater Field.

The Golden Bears jumped to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter and lead 22-0 at the half. Alvin Mixon and Marcello Walton each ran for two touchdowns and a two-point conversion for the Golden Bears, who improved to 2-1 for the season.

The Blue Devils’ Ryan Brown punched in a touchdown and Xavier Mills ran for a score and a two-pint conversion for the final tally.

Walter J. Baird will visit crosstown rival Winfree Bryant Middle on Thursday for a 6:30 p.m. kickoff. Mt. Juliet will play host to Montgomery Bell Academy the same evening at 6 p.m. at Elzie Patton Stadium.
