Macon County hands Jackets rare home loss

HARTSVILLE -- For the Trousdale County football team, it wasn't the end of the world Friday night. But it was the end of a winning streak.

Macon County's Seth Carlisle scored on a 10-yard run in double overtime as the visiting Tigers knocked off the hosts 27-21 in the season opener for both teams.

The last time the Yellow Jackets played, they walked off the turf at Cookeville's Tucker Stadium state champions after winning the Class 2A BlueCross Bowl. And for the longest time Friday night, it appeared Trousdale would roll to another victory.

A pair of touchdown runs by Zach Blackwell, sandwiching a 49-yard scoring run by Kenyan Harper, gave the Yellow Jackets a 21-7 cushion in the third quarter.

But Carlisle took matters into his own hands. He scored on a 4-yard touchdown run to bring the Tigers within eight, and then he scored on a 14-yard run to draw them even closer.

Carlisle still couldn't be stopped. He ran the two-point conversion in, tying the game and sending the game to overtime.

After both teams failed to score in overtime, Carlisle ended the game with a 10-yard scoring run.

The Yellow Jackets host Sycamore next week.
