Lebanon police said a driver was texting when he wrecked Sunday evening on the town square.

Police cited Daniel Johnston, 28, of Lebanon, with careless driving and violations of the seatbelt law and insurance law after the Toyota Camry he was driving hit a utility pole on South Cumberland Street Sunday at about 7 p.m.

According to the report, Johnston was traveling northbound at a high rate of speed and was also texting at the time.

Paramedics took Johnston to University Medical Center with minor injuries.
