Middle Tennessee Electric Membership Corp.’s Customers Care recently donated $10,000 of its Operation Round Up funds to Community Homeless Outreach and Support, Inc.

“This grant will help provide shelter and services for the homeless population in Wilson County,” said Liz Reese, Brooks House executive director. “We would like to express our sincere appreciation to the members of Middle Tennessee Electric for their contribution.”

Community Homeless Outreach and Support, Inc., through Brooks House, helps to provide a safe, comfortable environment for women and children seeking shelter and to connect them with resources to help change their lives.

In 2013, Customers Care has given more than $767,500 to 121 organizations across MTEMC’s four-county service area. The receiving organizations use the funds to assist MTEMC members and their families during their times of need.

These grants are administered through the Customers Care board, which tracks incoming contributions from Operation Round Up, an initiative that rounds up a member’s bill to the next highest dollar. Since 2003, Operation Round Up has distributed more than $6.5 million to 522 organizations across the region.
