Lebanon firefighters battled a house fire Wednesday afternoon on Braden Avenue that was contained to one room.

Assistant fire Chief Jason Baird said crews received the call of a confirmed structure fire with a possible person inside at about 12:45 p.m.

“As we were en route to the scene we were told a neighbor was able to pull the female occupant out, but that she was having trouble breathing,” Baird said. “When we arrived she was outside of the structure and laying on the ground and suffering from apparent smoke inhalation.”

Baird said responders immediately rendered care to the women and began their fire attack. At that point he said they knew no one else was inside the structure.

According to Baird, firefighters were able to contain the fire to the back part of the house and in one room only. He said the fire consumed the kitchen area and continued through the ceiling to the attic where they stopped it.

“There’s a lot of smoke damage but it’s good we got the fire stopped only affecting one room and it’s contents before it proceeded anymore,” Baird said. “But there is a lot of smoke damage to the structure.”

Baird said everything was lost in the one room affected by the fire.

“Other than that everything is OK other than the smoke damage,” Baird said.

As far as the cause or origin, Baird said it was still under investigation.

“We were on scene for a while, and we still have two personnel on the scene going through it trying to develop cause and origin and find out what happened,” Baird said Wednesday afternoon.
