Wilson County’s big event begins Friday at the James E. Ward Ag Center.
The 2014 Wilson County Fair opens its doors at 5 p.m. to offer rides and entertainment to thousands of visitors.
“We’ve got nine days full of family fun,” said Helen McPeak, executive director of Wilson County Promotions, “We’ve got a lot of things packed for this year.”
Some of the fun to be had on Friday includes musical entertainment on six stages as well as carnival rides and games, among other events.
“We have over 80 rides here this year, over 100 rides and games combined and 160 commercial exhibitors,” said McPeak.
As is customary each year, the fair features an opening day parade that begins at 7 p.m. This year’s parade will feature a float that will honor World War II veterans, who will be given seats of honor atop the float.
Events scheduled for Friday include a 12-and-under talent show, barrel races, a goat show, the super tractor pull and a dog show.
“We have got entertainment - six stages with music,” said McPeak.
