Police identified Wednesday morning a man killed in a wreck that downed power lines Tuesday night on Rocky Road in Lebanon.
According to Lebanon police Chief Scott Bowen, James C. Austin, 28, of Lebanon, was ejected from his vehicle in the crash, and officers found him dead at the scene when they arrived.
The wreck happened at about 7:15 p.m. near 128 Rocky Road about a quarter mile from the intersection with Hickory Ridge Road.
Bowen said officers believe Austin was driving south on Rocky Road in a 2001 Dodge Ram pickup when he lost control, left the roadway and hit a utility pole. He said speed and alcohol were possible contributing factors to the crash.
Austin was not wearing a seatbelt, Bowen said.
The crash downed power lines and left some residents in the area without power before Middle Tennessee Electric Membership Corp. workers could make repairs and restore electricity.
Bowen said Officer Robert Bates with the department’s Crash Reconstruction Team continues to investigate the wreck.
