The threat of wintry precipitation for tonight prompted nearly all high school basketball double headers for Wilson County teams to be canceled or postponed.
Only Friendship Christian's home twin bill against Davidson Academy was still on for a 6 p.m. tipoff at the Bay Family Sportsplex, Lady Commander coach Deanna Teeter said.
Mt. Juliet Christian's home double header with Trousdale County was previously called off due to the Yellow Jackets still being in the football playoffs, leaving the boys with not enough players to play, Saints coach Paul Christensen said. The teams will meet Dec. 12 in Hartsville with the Jackets coming to MJCA on Jan. 21 in a reversal of the original home-and-away schedule.
Lebanon's double header at Macon County and Wilson Central's trip to Siegel were called off, as were Watertown home games with Westmoreland and Mt. Juliet contests with visiting Antioch.
The Watertown-Westmoreland twin bill has been rescheduled for Dec. 7, Purple Tiger coach Matt Bradshaw said. The other games have not yet been rescheduled.
Central was the only school in Wilson County yet to have played this season. Now, the girls' season will begin at noon Friday in the Modern Woodmen Fraternal Financial Thanksgiving Classic at Lebanon's Campbell Brandon Gym/Hester Gibbs Court. The boys will go to Siegel on Friday to take on Tyner at 1 p.m. in the Venture Express Classic.
