On Tuesday at around 8:50 p.m., Mt. Juliet police officers responded to a multi-vehicle crash on Lebanon Road near the Mt. Juliet Little League ball fields. Upon arrival, officers found three vehicles involved and four individuals who were injured.

Medical personnel from Wilson Emergency Management Agency quickly arrived on the scene to treat the injured. Lebanon Road was closed for nearly two hours while a Mt. Juliet police crash reconstructionist investigated the crash.

The initial investigation revealed a 2002 Chevrolet pickup, traveling eastbound on Lebanon Road, lost control and struck head-on a 2013 Ford Explorer, traveling westbound on Lebanon Road. A 2006 Mazda M3 rear-ended the Ford Explorer after the initial impact. The driver of the pickup, Justin Odom, 22, of Lebanon, was taken in critical condition to Vanderbilt by LifeFlight. Odom died Monday as a result of his injuries.

The driver and passenger of the Ford Explorer, Timothy Cole, 49, and Tracie Cole, 43, both of Old Hickory, were taken in critical condition to Vanderbilt by ambulance. The driver of the Mazda M3, Kristina Wilkerson, 22, of Mt. Juliet, was treated and released by medical personnel at the scene.

A witness who saw the crash happen said the pickup fishtailed while traveling eastbound on Lebanon Road prior to striking the Ford Explorer head-on. The initial investigation revealed Odom’s first contributing action was “failure to keep in proper lane.”

“Our department is saddened by the death of Mr. Odom,” said Chief James Hambrick. “Our heartfelt condolences go out to everyone affected by this incident.”
