Fire spread from a fully engulfed vehicle to a nearby home Tuesday evening on Old Laguardo Road.
According to Wilson Emergency Management Agency director Joey Cooper, the fire started at about 7 p.m. at 1321 E. Old Laguardo Road near Highway 109 in Wilson County. He said fire from the vehicle parked near a house caught the home on fire, as well.
Cooper said firefighters attacked the blaze from inside the home and had it under control within about 15 minutes. He said the vehicle was a total loss, and about half the home had fire damage. Firefighters remained at the scene to check for hot spots.
The fire caused WEMA officials to close E. Old Laguardo Road, which was blocked by WEMA fire vehicles, for about three hours Tuesday evening.
Cooper said an outdoor grill caused the vehicle to catch on fire.
