After more than two weeks of striking, United Auto Workers Local 342 workers will return to work at Lebanon's TRW facility Wednesday night.
According to Gary Bowman, president of UAW Local 342, the strike that started Aug. 24 is over.
“We had a vote [Wednesday] morning,” Bowman said. “We do have a contract, and third shift will be reporting [Wednesday] at 10 p.m.”
Bowman said union workers voted 255-54 to end the strike and accept terms of a contract with TRW that includes a 6-percent incremental pay increase over five years for the nearly 400 TRW workers at the Lebanon plant.
He said the contract also included improvements to the 401(k), as well as day-to-day business and overtime.
Bowman feels workers are overall pleased with the new agreement.
“I think the vote reflects that pretty well today,” he said. “We didn’t get everything we wanted, and the company didn’t get everything it wanted.”
