The Wilson County Democratic Women recently presented a book to the Wilson County/Mt. Juliet Library. The book was donated in honor of James “Woody” Woods, life-long resident of Wilson County. This is a community project that donates a book each year to each of the three Wilson County libraries.
The book presented is entitled “The Purpose Driven Life” by Rick Warner.
“We are pleased each year to get a recently published book from the Democratic Women,” said Mt. Juliet Librarian Nancy Armstrong.
James “Woody” Woods was born and raised in Wilson County and resides in the LaGuardo community. He is retired from the DuPont Company and has dedicated many hours serving this community. He has been serving on the Planning Board for 17 years, served on the Planning Zoning Appeals Board for several years and for the past two years as volunteer for the Sheriff’s SCAN program (Senior Citizens Awareness Network). In addition, he is active in his church, Rutland Baptist Church. He served for many years on the Wilson County Executive Committee. And in the past, Woody enjoyed assisting the coach of the women’s softball team at Cumberland University.
Mr. Woods and his wife of 53 years, Nora Kay, also a life-long Wilson County resident, have two sons and a daughter and three grandchildren and one great-grandson.
The Democratic Women use this project to honor current and past Democratic leaders and add to the Wilson County libraries’ selection of books.
The Wilson County Democratic Women meet the second Tuesday of the month at the Fair Grounds in Lebanon at 6:30 p.m. For more information, contact Annette Stafford at 593-4969 or find us on Facebook.
