Police close shooting death investigation

Mt. Juliet police investigators concluded their investigation in to the shooting deaths of a man and woman, and the incident was ruled a murder-suicide.

Officers were summoned to the 1000 block of Weston Drive on Tuesday at about 11 a.m. to investigate the deaths of a man and woman after a family member found the couple's bodies in their home. 

Upon arrival, officers found two adult bodies with wounds consistent with gunshots, according to police spokesperson Tyler Chandler.

The individuals were identified as Betty Wilburn, 80, and Hubert Wilburn, 77, of Mt. Juliet.

An investigation revealed Betty Wilburn died of a single gunshot wound. Hubert Wilburn, the husband and shooter, died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
