JACKSON -- Special agents with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation arrested Henry County Trustee David Daniel Stone after an allegation of sending intimidating messages to his opponent.

On Sunday, a candidate for Henry County Trustee received messages via Facebook from Stone that related to the victim attending a political event, agents said. The messages presented a specific threat that constituted a violation of the victim’s civil rights under Tennessee law, according to agents. Stone was charged with civil rights intimidation.

On Wednesday, at the request of District Attorney General Hansel McCadams, TBI opened an investigation into the incident. David Stone, age 41, of Paris, was arrested Friday night and taken to Henry County jail. Bond was set at $7,500.
