One of the state’s Top Ten Most Wanted fugitives, Alonzo Ugene Howard, 20, of Davidson County, surrendered to authorities Thursday night.

Routine investigative methods led to information about Howard’s whereabouts in Hendersonville and in the James A. Cayce Homes area in Nashville. TBI Special Agents received assistance from the US Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force, the Tennessee Department of Corrections, the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department and the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office. In a joint effort, a series of searches and interviews of Howard’s associates were conducted over the last two days. As a result, Howard surrendered last night to Metropolitan Nashville Police officers at the Criminal Justice Center. Howard was transported to the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office where he is currently being held.

Howard was wanted by the Franklin Police Department and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation. Franklin Police charged Howard with one felony count of Attempted Second Degree Murder, three felony counts of Especially Aggravated Kidnapping, one felony count of Especially Aggravated Burglary and one felony count of Aggravated Burglary. Howard was added to the state’s Top Ten Most Wanted list on Sept. 19, 2013.

On Dec. 23, 2011, several suspects of whom included Howard, forcibly entered a residence at 631 Cherokee Place in Franklin, Tenn. Howard and the other suspects brandished weapons and forced three females that were inside the residence to an adjacent home. Howard and the suspects forcibly entered the adjacent home and compelled the females to accompany them inside where they held them at gunpoint. The suspects and Howard ransacked the home looking for money and drugs. While the females were being detained, the resident of that home arrived and was shot and injured in the leg, allegedly by Howard. The suspects including Howard then fled from the area.
