An anonymous tip led Mt. Juliet police to an accused wallet thief Saturday.

According to police, store security cameras showed an unidentified woman taking a wallet off a counter at Wal-Mart March 30 and putting it in her purse after the victim left it at the checkout. When the victim realized she left her wallet at the counter, she returned to Wal-Mart to find it was gone.

Police released surveillance video and photos of the crime to the public in hopes of finding the thief’s identity.

After receiving an anonymous tip, officers identified Tiffani Dark, 33, of Nashville, and charged her with theft of property over $500.

According to police, the stolen wallet contained cash, an iPhone, a debit card and the victim’s identification.

According to police, Dark appears to be the woman shown taking the wallet in Wal-Mart’s surveillance video.

Dark was held under a $2,000 bond and is set to appear in court Sept. 11.
