A woman was attacked while walking on Cainsville Road Friday night in Lebanon.

According to police Chief Scott Bowen, officers responded at about 9 p.m. to a female screaming for help on Cainsville Road.

Bowen said the victim told officers she was walking down Cainsville Road when she came across a white male, later identified as Jeffery Tittle, 38, outside his home at 226 Cainsville Rd.

The victim told officers Tittle was smoking and offered her a cigarette. She said she took the cigarette and he then offered her a ride home, to which she declined and continued walking. She said Tittle then ran toward her yelling.

“The victim told police that [the suspect] grabbed her from behind, put a knife to her throat and tried to drag her from the roadway,” Bowen said.

Bowen said the victim yelled for help and fell to the ground during the struggle to get away from Tittle’s grasp.

“When officers arrived, the victim was able to show officers where she first made contact with the male subject and Tittle was identified as the man who attacked her,” Bowen said. “Tittle is registered as a violent sex offender on the Sex Offender Registry.”

Tittle was arrested and charged with aggravated assault.

“Detectives are working with the District Attorney’s Office to see if further charges will be filed,” Bowen said.

Tittle has a court date set for June 18.
