A man pleaded guilty to multiple charges Monday morning, stemming from a February 2013 incident.

Dereus McNeal, 33, of Lebanon, was previously charged with evading arrest, reckless endangerment, habitual motor vehicle offender, driving on a revoked license, simple drug possession, driving under the influence and implied consent following a high-speed vehicular and foot pursuit with Lebanon police last year.

Police said they saw a car Feb. 14, 2013 on S. Cumberland Street traveling south and driving recklessly. Officers then attempted to catch up to the car as it turned onto the Interstate 40 west entrance ramp.

Officers reported that the car was switching lanes erratically and they tried to pull the car over, while it continued to change lanes. They said the car stopped near the 236-exit ramp.

When officers approached the car, it then drove away at a high rate of speed on the exit ramp. The car then went north onto S. Hartmann Drive and east onto Franklin Road.

Officers said the car began passing other cars in blind curves and then crashed into the yard of 960 Franklin Road.

The driver, identified as McNeal, fled on foot into the woods, where he was captured.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol, as well as Lebanon police, both worked the case.

Officers said during a pat-down search at the time, McNeal was also found to have a bag of green plant-like material in his pocket and shoe.

McNeal was taken into custody to serve out his sentence Monday following his plea.
